As I reflect on his character, I am saddened that we as Americans have turned our backs on who we really are because There’s a Little Martin Luther King Jr. in All of Us.

There are many famous quotes from this highly respected man, Martin Luther King, Jr. Reading all he had to say about choosing love and peace inspires me. Out of respect for the man and the holiday, I’ve taken some time to refresh my knowledge on why we recognize him every year.

Current day America is in a state of unrest. We’re about to swear in a new President and it there’s a lot of talk about who is going and who is not. Who supports our President and Who Doesn’t? It seems we as Americans spend more time criticizing and comparing ourselves to others instead of taking a good hard look in the mirror.

If the house across the street is messy on the inside, does that make yours cleaner?  If your neighbor is struggling, does that dissolve your own problems? Don’t compare yourself to others to determine your own worth.

As he once said “Be a bush if you can’t be a tree. If you can’t be a highway, just be a trail. If you can’t be a sun, be a star. For it isn’t by size that you win or fail. Be the best of whatever you are.”
